Another short freebie. It is about an hour read. It was okay. I liked the premise of the story, but was not enamored with the way the story played out.

It is a second chance romance. The couple has been married for 3 years and separated for about a year. The H drops a bombshell on the h one day by telling her that he has to leave Manhattan and head out to Ireland for a family emergency. She has been married to the guy for 3 years and was led to assume by the H that he had no family. Naturally she was floored that he never shared with her that he had a family during their time together.

A year goes by. Divorce papers appear in the H's mail. No discussion between them. The h then flies out to Ireland to see if the marriage is salvageable before the divorce is finalized. More bombshells follow. The H has never told his family that he was married in the States. He has a large family of about 6 siblings. She finds out the family emergency was his mother's cancer. On the day the h appears at the H's doorstep, he is getting ready for a date! The h is hit with all this on her first day. To top that off, the H asks why she is in Ireland in a mean kind of manner. No glad to see you or thank goodness one of us had the sense to make a go of our marriage. What a way to jump start a relationship. With this disclosure, I thought he was a scum bag for not trusting his wife enough to share his background with her.

What I really disliked---The h makes all the moves and sacrifices in the story. Second chances should involve both parties giving and taking. The h was doing all the giving and the H was doing all the taking. If the h did not make the trip out to Ireland, the divorce would have been finalized and he would have started a new romance. The H made no effort to physically see the h during their separation. It appeared that he didn't care too much about the h or their marriage. He copped out and said that he called and left voicemails and sent emails during their separation. That was the sum of his entire effort to fight for the h and their marriage. He was the one to leave, but she was the one to get on a plane to try and mend their marriage. The h is a doctor and has a private practice in NY. The H hates the rat race in NY and prefers Ireland. At the end, she moves to Ireland for him. This was more like a HFN ending for me because the H didn't trust the h, his wife, to share his background with her and did not make any sacrifices for h or their marriage. He didn't fight for her at all. One reviewer was right when she said the h manned up. Too bad that leaves us one man short in this story.

While the book is well written it didn't hold my interest for very long. I found myself reading "just to be done with it". The characters were full of personality and the story line was somewhat interesting I just couldn't seem to get into it like I usually do. The issue may not lie with the book but rather with me and my interest as I began reading it. So based on that I give it 3 stars and would probably recommend it to friends and family who I know to be into this type of book. It just wasn't my cup of tea as it turned out.
I adore reading romance stories that are set in places I've always wanted to travel to, like Ireland. Zara has set the stage with this series around Ballybeg, a lovely small irish town with inhabitants that you can't help but enjoy. In Love and Blarney, we have the story Rhuari and Jayme. Can a marriage based on secrets be salvaged? Can love for each other give them the strength and courage to share these secrets and the reasons for? Can Rhuari and Jayme get a second chance at love? This is a short read but packs a lot of emotion within its pages. While it is also part of the Ballybeg Series and contains characters you met in Love and Shenanigans, Book 1 and whom you will also meet up with in the other books in this series, it can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone novella. Zara Keane has an enjoyable writing style and delivers all the elements I like to have in a fun romance story. I will be continuing with this series and hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.

This is the first story by Zara Keane I have read, but rest assured this will not be the last. She has such a descriptive way with words I swore that as soon as I looked up, I would be surrounded by the Irish landscape I wish to visit so much. I just knew with a turn of the head I would be listening to that brogue and be in the family's pub waiting for my pint. I loved this story from beginning to end. Thank you!!
This series ALWAYS takes us on a happy ride....little by little we get to know this wonderful cast of characters. Lost loves return from across the pond with a secret of her own. Finally an end to the mass suffering alone. We learn more of what made Rhuari (sp) so tough. Suffice it to say what he'd been through would make it tough on many. I definitely look forward to th he book coming where Olivia finally fesses up her marriage isn't working. It looks like we may see her spread her wings and find true happiness! I for one am really looking forwArd to her truly falling happily in love with a worthy man. She deserves all the very best. This series in a way is like an onion....we slowly peel back a layer here and there, and discover huge treats and revelations only to know there are still many more great moments to come! I for one already fell in love with this wacky lot. They feel like family to me, and I can't wait to see them find their happiness!! Thanks so much for sharing their tales with us!!
Enchanting little story . This is really short but a nice switch to a married couple on their way to divorce, changing direction.
Ruairí leaves Jayme/USA for a family emergency. Ruairi calls, emails, and texts Jayme. She never answers. Jayme files for divorce. She shows up months later, before the divorce is final, to see if they still have something. A good story. A couple rediscovering and working towards their relationship. HEA. Recommend.
