Steamed Open A Maine Clambake Mystery Barbara Ross Books Reviews

This next book in the series continues the character development, provides colorful background on various settings and people in the story, describes more excellent recipes, and delivers a satisfying experience with another murder mystery. As someone who has spent the last 25 years visiting Maine each summer, especially in the Boothbay Harbor region, this series reinforces vacation memories and clambake experiences!
Barbara Ross delivers a terrific read again! With a wonderful sense of place, well developed characters, and an engaging story line with a mystery that keeps me guessing this is a page Turner!
I really enjoyed learning more about Chris' background and Julia's sleuthing. The story moved at just the right pace and I didn't figure out who the culprit was. I can't say more without giving it away; you'll have to read it yourself to find out.
I kept putting this down, but not because I wasn't enjoying reading it but because I didn't want it to end. I love this series. I was able to figure out the "mystery" parts of the story early on but still enjoyed it to the end. However, I do wish the books were longer. Looking forward to the next book.
I loved this book. It was one of the best in the series. As usual, someone particularly unlikeable is murdered -- so the reader doesn't have to feel too bad. And there was a nice array of suspects right from the beginning. But as they worked to resolve the mystery, a whole complex family history unfolded. It was a lot of fun to read. There was a bit of an odd part where Julia's boyfriend Chris was obsessing over the paternity of a little girl who may or may not be his niece. His explanation did not really make sense and it didn't add value to the plot. Still, it was a great book. Now I have to wait forever for the next one.
This was just a great read. It's been a pleasure through the series to watch Julia's family as they have struggled with both personal and work challenges to grow and find success. Julia and Chris seem to be finding their way as well. As for this mystery lots of surprises. Never had a clue where this ending was headed. I also very much like how every ending seems to bond the characters and and the townspeople.
I had no idea whodunnit until the end. And within the story, complex character background is weaved through from previous books in the series. Future stories are planted like seeds as we learn new information about the people in this little town. Having spent a lot of time visiting my husbands family in coastal Maine, it’s always a pleasure to be immersed in the fascinating geographical culture. Thank you for another great read with Julia and the gang!
